Mushfiqur scores ninth Test century

Ace batsman Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten with 115 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim hit 13 fours in his 252-ball innings against Sri Lanka on the first day of the second Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Monday. Mushfiq reached his ninth hundred-run in Test cricket using 218 deliveries with 11 fours. Mushfiq reached the fifty-run landmark playing 112 balls including nine fours. Mushfiqur Rahim is now the highest run-getter for Bangladesh in Test cricket. He scored 5152 runs playing 150 innings. It was his back-to-back century against Sri Lanka. He scored 105 runs against Sri Lanka in the first Test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on May 18.
Bangladesh lost their early five wicket for 24 runs in their first innings against Sri Lanka on Monday. Then, Mushfiqur Rahim and in-form Litton Das rescued their team from danger contributing together 253 runs for the unbroken sixth wicket partnership before the bails were drawn for the opening day of the second Test. It was the highest run partnership for Bangladesh batters in their Test campaign after getting Test status in 2000. The 35-year right-arm ace batter made his Test debut in 2005 against England when he was just 16 years old.
Mushfiqur Rahim’s highest individual score in Test cricket is 219 (not out). His average is 37.33.
