Mushfiqur Rahim reached the 5000-run elite club in Test cricket on Wednesday. Mushfiqur Rahim scored 105 runs playing 282 balls with four fours against Sri Lanka on the fourth day of the first Test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Wednesday. Mushfiqur Rahim reached the 5000-run club scoring two runs of the 123rd overs of the innings. Asitha Fernando bowled that over. It was Mushfiqur Rahim’s eighth century in Test cricket.
Mushfiqur Rahim is the first Bangladesh batter, who reached the 5000-run elite club in Test cricket. Mushfiqur Rahim is now the highest scorer of Test cricket. He scored 5037 runs playing 149 innings of 81st Test matches.
Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal is breathing on his neck making 4981 runs. Tamim played 126 innings of 66 Test matches. Tamim Iqbal scored 10 centuries in Test cricket.
Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is the third highest scorer in Test cricket. He scored 4055 runs playing 110 innings of 60 Test matches. Shakib Al Hasan hit five centuries.
Captain of Bangladesh Test cricket team Mominul Haque is the highest century-maker in Test cricket among the Bangladesh batters. He hit 11 centuries in his Test campaign.
Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 53 and 54 runs respectively.
Litton Das was caught behind by wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella off Kusan Rajitha when Bangladesh’s score was 385 for the loss of four wickets. Litton Das notched up 88. His 189-ball innings was laced with 10 fours.
After dismissal of Litton Das, Tamim Iqbal arrived at the crease but injured Tamim could stay at the crease for a short period as he was bowled out by Kusan Rajitha when Bangladesh’s score was 385 for the loss of five wickets.
Then, Shakib Al Hasan (26) was caught behind by Niroshan Dickwella off Asitha Fernando when the hosts’ total was 421 for the loss of six wickets.
Then, Mushfiqur Rahim was bowled out by Lasith Embuldeniya and Mushfiqur’s historic innings came to an end.
