Former Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim who has the habit of hogging headlines but this time it was for different reason, his wife Jannatul Kifayet gave birth to a son this morning.
Mushfiq after a reasonably good show in the first Test at Chittagong hurriedly boarded a flight to Dhaka as his dear was expecting birth of his first child.
Mushfiqur’s wife Jannatul Kifayet provided the great news for a celebration when she gave birth to their son at the city’s Square Hospital at 9:30 am this morning.
Wicketkeeper batsmen Mushfiq’s father Mahbub Hamid confirmed the news to local sports reporters through telephone. Grand dad Mahbub Hamid proudly informed, “Mushfiq’s son was born at 9:30 am this morning. The mother and son are both healthy and well.”
The second Test which is due to start from February 8 and Mushfiq will have to play key role as again skipper Shakib Al Hasan was ruled out of the second Test as he failed to recover from his finger injury.
Mushfiq who scored a belligerent 92 runs in the first innings of the Chittagong Test helping Mominul Haque (176) and skipper Mahmudullah Riyad with a defiant 87 not out to pile 509 runs in the first essay.
He again batted doggedly in the second innings but was out to an extraordinary catch for a well compiled 18 runs.
Later Mominul Haque created history by notching his second century of the match along with Liton Das’94 forced a creditable draw but it will be wrong not to mention Mahmudullah Riyad’s priceless 28 not out and young Mossadek hanging along with skipper to forced the match to end in a tame draw.
