Wicket keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim set the new record for becoming the first Bangladesh batsman to score two Test double centuries along with the highest individual innings by a Bangladesh batsman on the second day of the second and final Test against Zimbabwe on Monday.
He scored his maiden double ton during the 2013 Test tour of Sri Lanka and today he struck his second double centuries after he resumed his bating with overnight score at 111.
His magnificent unbeaten double centuries came in 407 deliveries that studded with 16 fours and one six.
Indeed it was day of landmarks for Mushfiqur as he went past fellow mate Shakib Al Hasan to become record holder for the highest individual innings by a Bangladesh batsman with his unbeaten 219 runs off 421-ball that contained 18 boundaries and one over boundary.
Shakib had scored 217 runs against New Zealand at Wellington last year and Bangladesh declared their innings today at 522 for 7 after Mushfiqur went past Shakib to make a new score.
The diminutive batsman also became the first wicket-keeper-batsman to score two double centuries in Tests, an extraordinary achievement that some of the best wicket-keeper-batsmen have not achieved.
He was also emerged as highest knock player in Test cricket by a Bangladesh batsman after he went past Mominul Haque’s 161 after lunch today to set his record.
