The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Thursday the 19-member Bangladesh T20I squad for upcoming five-match New Zealand Twenty20 International (T20I) series. Ace batsman Mushfiqur Rahim, opener Liton Das and promising Aminul Islam Biplob have returned to the squad. Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal cannot play in the upcoming series due to injury.
Mohammad Mithun was dropped from the squad. Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das and Aminul Islam could not play in the recently concluded five-match T20I series against Australia due to their personal reasons. Bangladesh defeated Australia by 4-1 in the recently concluded five match T20I series.
The players, who have been chosen, are: Mahmudullah Riyad (Captain), Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Soumya Sarkar, Liton Das, Mosaddek Hossain, Afif Hossain, Mohammad Naim, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Shamim Hossain, Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Mohammad Saifuddin, Shoriful Islam, Taijul Islam, Mahedi Hasan, Aminul Islam Biplob and Nasum Ahmed.
The New Zealand Cricket team will arrive in Dhaka on August 24. After that they will take a three-day quarantine at a city hotel. After that they will take part in their practice session. The five T20I matches between Bangladesh and New Zealand will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur. All the matches will start at 4.00pm (Bangladesh Standard Time).
Bangladesh will take on New Zealand in the first T20I on September 1, Bangladesh will face the Kiwis in the second T20I on September 3, Bangladesh will meet the Black Caps in the third T20I on September 5, Bangladesh will play against New Zealand in the fourth T20I on September 8, Bangladesh will take on New Zealand in the fifth T20I on September 10.
