Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Liton Das of Bangladesh shone with the willow against New Zealand XI on the second day of the two-day practice match at Mount Maunganui in New Zealand on Wednesday. The two-day practice match ended in a tame draw.
Mushfiqur Rahim notched up a superb 66 from 91 balls featuring seven fours and a sixer.
Opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy made a sedate 66 using 131 deliveries with 11 fours.
Liton Das scored 41 from 68 balls featuring seven fours.
Bangladesh scored 269 for the loss of eight wickets in the first innings before the bails were drawn for the second and final day.
Earlier, New Zealand XI declared their first innings scoring 146 for the loss of seven wickets.
Jacob Bhula of the hosts performed really well on the second day. He made a sparkle 57 playing 75 deliveries including 10 fours.
Besides, Ma’ara Ave made 33 from 54 balls hitting seven fours.
Right-arm spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz bagged two wickets for 14 runs.
Later, Bangladesh had a painful start as opener Shadman Islam was dismissed for naught.
Then, Joy and Najmul Hossain Shanto repaired the damage scoring together 50 runs in the second wicket stand before Shanto was trapped leg before wicket by Kristian Clarke.
Shnto scored 27 from 53 balls with four fours.
After Shanto’s dismissal, Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim added together 32 runs for the third wicket partnership before Mominul Haque (9) was bowled out by Tim Pringle when Bangladesh’s total was 82 runs for the loss of three wickets.
After Mominul’s departure, Joy and Mushfiqur Rahim built another worthy partnership contributing together 44 runs in the fourth wicket stand before Joy was caught by wicketkeeper Ma’ara Ave off Bret Randell when Bangladesh’s score was 126 for the loss of four wickets.
After Joy’s departure, Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das put on together 74 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Mushfiqur Rahim was caught by Ave off Clarke when the tourists’ total was 200 for the loss of five wickets.
After Mushfiqur’s dismissal, no remarkable partnership was built by Bangladesh batsmen.
Bret Randell, Kristian Clarke and Tim Pringle bagged two wickets each.
