A superb half-century from ace batsman Mushfiqur Rahim powered Dhaka Abahani Lmited to achieve an easy seven-wicket win over Gazi Group Cricketers in their match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Tuesday.
Dhaka Abahani Limited gained eight points from five matches, while Gazi Group Cricketers earned four points from as many matches.
Mushfiqur Rahim of Dhaka Abahani Limited hit a captain’s knock of 53. His 35-ball unbeaten innings saw four fours and one sixer. He was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Mosaddek Hossain of the popular Dhanmondi-based outfit made 50 from 28 balls.
Batting first Gazi Group Cricketers scored 150 off 20 overs.
In reply, Dhaka Abahani Limited made 131 for the loss of three wickets when they had 12 balls to spare.
Soumya Sarkar of Gazi Group Cricketers hit his team’s highest of 67. His 50-ball knock was laced with six fours and two sixes.
Sheikh Mahedi Hasan made 43 (not out) from 32 balls.
Aminul Islam and Shohidul Islam of Dhaka Abahani Limited bagged two wickets each.
