A murder case was filed with the senior judicial magistrate court here yesterday in connection with the mysterious death of Bangladesh Chhatra League, central committee Assistant Secretary Diyaz Irfan Chowdhury. The deceased’s mother Jaheda Amin Chowdhury on Thursday noon lodged the case with the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court of Shiblu Kumar Dey, prosecuting Chittagong University (CU) Assistant Proctor Anowar Hossain, CU BCL President Alamgir Tipu, CU BCL ex-leader Jamsedul Alam Chowdhury and seven other BCL leaders of CU chapter.
Turning down the autopsy report that said that Diyaz Irfan Chowdhury committed suicide, Diyaz’s mother frequently tried to register a murder case with the Hathazari Thana, but the police didn’t file any case. However, no other case has been registered in this regard by the police.
Advocate Jubaida Sarwar Chowdhury, Diyaz’s elder sister, told the correspondent that they lodged the case under Sections 302, 201 and 234 of Penal Code accusing 10 others for the ‘murder’. The other accused are CU BCL Senior Vice-President Mansur Alam, Joint Secretary Abu Torab Parosh, Vice-President Abdul Malek, Mizanur Rahman, Organizing Secretary Mohammad Arman and BCL activist Areful Huq Apu.
After initial hearing, the court directed the CID to hold the investigation and also asked them to submit the findings within 30 days, she added.
