Murder case accused gunned down in Jessore

Ataur Rahman, 30, source of the police and son of Abul Kashem of Bagdanga village under Monirampur upazila in Jessore who was the main accused in construction worker Monwar killing case, was gunned down at Pariali under Monirampur upazila in Jessore at around 10:45 pm on Monday. Monwar was gunned down at the night of March 29, 2015. An accused of a murder case was shot dead, said the police.
The police picked up Shahidul Islam, son of Rajab Ali of Monirampur for quizzing. Mokarram Hossain, officer in-charge, Monirampur police station told that Ataur was shot dead near a rice mill owned by Harendranath Bala at Pariali under Monirampur upazila while the was returning home after meeting with Shekhar Chandra Roy, chairman, local union council at around 10:45pm on Monday.
quoting Shahidul, the OC said assailants shot dead Ataur while the victim and he( Shahidul) were coming towards their residences after meeting with the UP chairman by a motorbike. Shahidul was driving the motorbike at the time of the killing. ‘Four men riding on two motorbikes killed him,’ said the OC referring of the driver of the motorbike.
The body was sent to Jessore General Hospital for post mortem examination at noon.
