Staff Reporter: A 30 years old murder accused has been killed in a gunfight with police in Khilgaon area of Dhaka on early Sunday.
The murder accused Sohel Hawlader alias Juna (30) was arrested from Airport Road area hours before the gunfight.
His resident of Adinagar village in Faridpur’s Bhanga upazila and was an accused in 17 cases, including murder and drug trader.
Cases were filed with different police stations against him police said.
Mashiur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Khilgaon Police Station, said police along with him went to Nagdarpar area of Khilgaon around 3:00am after arresting him to recover hidden firearms and drugs.
“Sensing their presence, Sohel’s associates opened fire, prompting law enforcers to fire back in “self-defence. At one stage, Sohel suffered bullet injuries while his cohorts managed to flee the scene,” the OC said.
The OC said that, he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead.
He said also that police recovered a revolver from the spot.
