Murali Vijay’s superb century helped India to make 462 for the loss of six wickets in the first innings before rain halted the third day play of the only Test match against Bangladesh at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Friday.
India scored 239 for the loss of none on the first day (Wednesday) and the second day play was called off due to downpour.
Muali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan resumed their first innings with 89 and 150 runs respectively.
Later, Muarali Vijay smashed his 150 from 272 balls featuring 12 fours and one sixer. It was Vijay’s sixth Test century. Murali touched the hundred-run landmark playing 201 balls.
Shikhar Dhawan notched up 173. His 195-ball knock was studded with 23 fours before he was caught and bowled by ace spinner Shakib Al Hasan when India’s score was 283 for the loss of one wicket.
Shakib Al Hasan restored some parity bagging four wickets at the cost of 105 runs.
Shakib Al Hasan cleanly bowled out Rohit Sharma for six when India’s score was 291 for the loss of two wickets.
Then Virat Kohli was dismissed by Jubair Hossain when India’s total was 310 for the loss of three wickets.
Murali Vijay and Ajinkya Rahane contributed 114 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Vijay was trapped leg before wicket by Shakib Al Hasan when India’s score 424 for the loss four wickets.
Later, Wriddhiman Saha was bowled out by Jubair Hossain for five when India’s total was 445 for the loss of five wickets.
Ajinkya Rahane was bowled out by Shakib Al Hasan when India’s score was 453 for the loss of six wickets.
Rahan was deprived from a ton for just two runs. He hit a superb 98. His 103-ball innings was decorated with 14 fours. It was Ajinkya Rahane’s seventh Test half century. Rahane reached his fifty-run landmark playing 64 balls.
When India was 462 for the loss of six wickets the rain stopped the play. Harbhajan Singh was on 7 and Ravichandran Ashwin was on 2 respectively before the rain halted the third day play. Jubair Hossain took two wickets instead of 113 runs.
