Muntassir Mamoon, former Professor of History Department of Dhaka University was appointed as ‘Bangabandhu Chair’ Professor for the next one year.
He was appointed with a view to conducting research on ‘Bangabandhu and Bangladesh’ during the tenure, said a DU release issued on Thursday.
DU syndicate appointed Professor Mamoon at a meeting on August 16 for the chair established at DU History Department, the release added.
Professor Mamoon joined DU History department as lecturer on October 31, 1974. He was promoted to Professor on February 18, 1991 and went to retirement on June 30, 2016.
The ‘Bangabandhu Chair’ was established in 1999. Earlier, Professor Anatur Rahim and novelist Hasan Ajijul Haque were appointed for the chair.
