Multistoried bldgs to be built in remote areas: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday reiterated that her government will construct multistoried buildings in rural areas with urban civic amenities so that no citizen of the country remains homeless.
The Prime Minister came up with the appreciation when a delegation of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, headed by its chairman Dr MS Akbar, met her office.
After the meeting, PM’s Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury briefed reporters.
Hasina also said ‘Mujib Killas’, the cyclone shelters constructed by the government of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman after the country’ s independence, will be renovated.
She said the government will construct more multipurpose cyclone shelters in the country’s coastal areas to minimise casualties during natural disasters.
The Prime Minister lauded the activities of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society in the country during various natural disasters, including flood, cyclone, tidal surge and landslide.
Hasina extend gratitude to some special UN agencies like FAO, WHO, Unicef for providing humanitarian assistance to Bangladesh before getting members of the United Nations.
The delegation members apprised the Prime Minister that their organisation is carrying out their activities in Bangladesh without any government interference.
