Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra registered their first victory beating Brothers Union by a solitary goal in their Group-A match of the KFC Independence Cup at Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday.
Nigerian forward Ahmed Kolo Musa scored the all important goal for Muktijoddha SKC in the 40th minute of the match.
Forward Towhidul Alam sent a through pass to Kolo Musa who placed the ball into the net deceiving Brothers goalie Uttam Barua, 1-0.
Muktijoddha missed an opportunity in the 31st minute as Towhidul having Brothers goalie in a one-on-one situation failed to convert the chance off a square pass of Kolo Musa. Towhidul’s poor shot was saved by Brothers goalie.
Towhid again failed to extend the lead in the 63rd minute as his header straight went to Brothers goalie off a across of Sohel Rana from the left flank.
With this result, Muktijoddha earned 3 points from two matches while Brothers Union also collected 3 points from three matches.
Muktijoddha started their tournament campaign with a 0-2 loss against new powerhouse Chittagong Abahani Ltd.
Brothers Union beat Uttar Baridhara Club by 2-0 goal for making a winning start in the tournament while conceded a humiliating 0-5 defeat against holders Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in their 2nd match.
