Muktijoddha reach final beating Mohammedan 4-3 in tie-breaker

Muktijoddha Sangsad KC moved into the final of the Federation Cup Football Tournament eliminating Mohammedan SC Ltd by 4-3 goals in penalty shootout at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Monday.
The match was locked 1-1 draw in the stipulated time.
Muktijoddha Sangsad will play the final on Thursday (March 5) against holders Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club at the same venue.
Muktijoddha went ahead in the 33rd minute from a penalty. Mohammedan goalie Nehal brought down Muktijoddha’s Senegalese forward Camara Sarba in the danger zone and Enamul did no mistake to convert a spot kick (1-0).
Forward Ismael Bangoura equalised the margin for traditional black and white team Mohammedan SC in the 61st minute. Capitalising on a long ball from midfielder Mobarak, the Guinean forward Ismael chipped the ball over the onrushing Muktijoddha goalie Titumir Chowdhury (1-1).
In the penalty shoot out, Enamul, Ashraful, Shahed, Sweet scored for Muktijodhha while Camara, Fekri, Anwar missed the other chances.
On the other hand, Mobarak, Arup and Jony scored for Mohammedan while Faisal, Sabuj, Mansa Sylla, Shohag spoiled the other opportunities.
Muktijoddha played an organised football from the beginning and with good ball possession than that of the Mohammedans.
Earlier, Mohammedan had got the first opportunity to move ahead, but Biplu Ahmed’s low effort went in vein as his shot hit the side post.
After the restart, Mohammedan put pressure on Muktijoddha for equaliser and they came close to score but forward Tauhidul Alam Sabuz failed to connect a cross off midfielder Abu Sayed Jewel from left.
Muktis had a chance to take the lead again in the 75th minute but Naeemur Rahman Shahed’s 30 yards shot was punched over the crosspiece by goalie Nehal for corner.
