Lawmaker of Kotwali constituency of Chittagong Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu said establishment of Mujibnagar Government was the recognition towards liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971 .
 He said from that very day of April 17, the freedom fight for emerging Bangladesh bean and introduced the journey for creating world opinions in favour of the liberation war. He disclosed it while addressing the discussion meet on Mujibnagar Day arranged by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote held at Threatre Institute in city on Saturday as chief guest.
 He said liberation war is a significant chapter of the history of Bangladesh . He recollected the midnight of March 25, 1971 when the pak occupation forces attacked the innocent Bangalee .
He said Awami league wins landslide victory in Pak parliament election in 1970 but the Pakistani janta did not tolerate the victory of the Bengali nation. He also mentioned after bloody war of nine months, Bangladesh emerge as a Independent nation on December 16, 1971. President of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote , Chittagong unit Anup Biswas presided over it and the general secretary Khorshedul Alam conducted the function . Local units of Bangladesh Awami League observed the day recollecting the great national event with due honour when the provisional Bangladesh government in exile took oath in the mango grove of Baiddyanathtala (Mujibnagar) in the then Meherpur Sub-division on April 17 in 1971.
Marking the day, the AL leaders and workers hoisted national and party flags atop all party offices in Chittagong and placed wreaths at the portraits of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four national leaders at Darul Fazal Market of Bangladesh Awami League this morning.
In this connection a discussion meeting was organized by Chittagong City Unit AL at central Shahid Minar centre this afternoon. Former Mayor and President of Chittagong city AL A B M Mohiuddin Chowdhury presided over the function. City AL general Secretary and Mayor Chittagong City Corporation A Z M Nasir Uddin, AL leaders Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury, M A Rashid, Jahirul Alam Dobash, Khurshed Alam Sujan and Advocate Iftekhar Saimul, among others, spoke on the occasion.
People of all walks of life including politicians, educationists and freedom fighters also attended the function.
Speakers paid glowing tributes to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four national leaders who immensely contributed to the liberation war in the country. The speakers recalled the glorious events of the day when the exiled leaders took the most momentous decision of forming a legal government taking oath by the elected people to turn people’s aspiration into a legal platform in order to draw global attention.
The formation of the government headed by Syed Nazrul Islam as acting president in the absence of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with Tajuddin Ahmed as the Prime Minister at Baiddyanathtala later named as Mujibnagar was a great leap forward towards achieving independence, the speakers added.
Meanwhile, another discussion meeting organized by district administration of Chittagong was held at the auditorium of the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office this noon with DC Mohammad Mezbahuddin in the chair.
Earlier, Bangabandhu Sanskritic Jote also organized a discussion meeting at the city’s Theatre Institute auditorium this noon. Jatiya Party leader Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu addressed the function as special guest.
