‘Mujib Kella’ in every union to be constructed

State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Enamur Rahman said the government has envisaged a plan to build ‘mujib kella’ in every union of the flood prone districts for safe stay of the affected people and shifting of the property and animal resources during any deluge.
The ‘mujib kella’ would be constructed on a land having at least five acres of area and topper position from mainland so that flood-hit people can and their cattle heads can take shelter at the time of flood. It will also have a large open grassland to produce food for animals during other seasons.
Dr Enamur said this on Thursday while talking to reporters at Kurigram Deputy Commissioner’s office..
Later the state minister attended a meeting of the disaster management committee of the district at Deputy Commissioner’s conference room and distributed relief at Chilmari and Roumari areas among flood affected people.
The state minister also distributed relief among flood victim families at Gajirhat High School ground in Balapara union of Kawnia upazila.
About 1,000 flood-affected families of Kawnia upazila received relief materials from the state minister and each family got 10 kg rice, two kg flattened rice, one litre soybean oil, one kg sugar, salt, lentil and 500 gram noodles.
Addressing a function on the occasion Enamur Rahman said announced special allocation of 200 bundles of corrugated iron sheets and Taka six lakh for constructing of damaged houses in the affected areas of the upazila.
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Shah Kamal and local officials were present.
The state minister said the government has adequate relief materials to provide the flood affected people and the government is taking early preparations to face any possible flood in the middle of August.
