Sylhet Bureau :
The Round Square, located about 200 meters east of the Avenue-16 MP check post in Sylhet Cantonment, has been renamed as ‘Mujib Square’. In order to commemorate the birth centenary of the father of the nation and the golden jubilee of independence, an initiative was taken to construct Mujib Chattar under the supervision of Area Headquarters Sylhet. In continuation of this, the sculpture of the greatest Bengali Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman “Vajrakantha” was placed.
It is known that the height of the sculpture is 15 feet and the height of the base is 8 feet. This spectacular sculpture is also visible from the Sylhet-Tamabil bypass road. An attempt has been made to pay homage to Bangabandhu and make his contribution to the nation unforgettable by erecting the sculpture. Besides, the sculpture will inspire Bangabandhu’s ideology and the spirit of liberation war.
