Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhit visited Rampal Power Plant on Sunday morning. In a short visit, he reached the Plant .
A function was arranged by Rampal Power Plant Authority. Being presided over by the Managing Director of Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL) Uzzal Bhattacharja , Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhit was present there as Chief Guest . MP of Rampal-Mongla Constituency Alhaj Talukder Abdul Khaleq and MP of Bagerhat -2 Mir Swakat Ali Badsha were present there as special guests.
The Finance minister first inaugurated the Office cum Residential Building .After that the Chief Guest delivered a short speech and distributed prizes among the winners of essay and art competition who participated in the competition some months ago that was arranged by Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL) . He also distributed sewing machine among the trainees who took training program under BIFPCL. In his speech , he said that students should have high dreams and lofty thoughts and engaged themselves to serve the country .
About the power plant , he said that the Plant will do no harm of the Sundarban. Rather , it will create job opportunities and the adjacent area would be a developed one.
He also told that his government thinks that the plant will not damage the Sundarban as it is justified by the many research of the noted environmentalist of the country . After the ending of the function at 12.30 , he started for Mongla Port. At that time Deputy Commissioner of Bagerhat Tapan Kumar Biswash , SP of Bagerhat Pankaj Chandra Roy , many higher officials of the concerned ministry and higher officials of BIFPCL were with him.
