The Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Thursday said that all the citizens of Bangladesh would be brought under a pension system.
“There will be an outline in the upcoming budget to include the 16-crore people under the pension scheme,” said the minister at a programme in the Bangladesh Secretariat.
“As per commitment, the government is working to ensure universal pension for all,” he said while speaking as the chief guest

at the inauguration ceremony of the ‘Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT)’ for pensioners at his ministry in the city.
When asked about the details of the project, Muhith said that he will announce the outline of the system soon.
“Though we are working on it, it will not be introduced immediately,” he said.
Finance Secretary Muslim Chowdhury said, “The pension scheme will be implemented gradually after the finance minister draws its outline.”
