Finance Minister AMA Muhith today underscored the need for further strengthening the local government bodies to sustain the present growth trend leading to coveted economic development in the country.
“It will be possible to reach 8-10 percent GDP growth if we can strengthen the local government bodies,” he said while addressing as the chief guest a seminar in the city. Policy Research Institute organised the seminar titled “Rethinking Political Development: Security and Freedom Based on Justice”.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Muhith said, the government is working relentlessly to strengthen the local government bodies through enhancing their duties side by side with providing required finance to maintain the trend of GDP growth over 7 percent.
