Muggers looted Tk 11 lakh after shooting a young man in his legs in the city’s Badda on Wednesday. Sources at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) said Shahriar Sikder Shahin, 26, hailed from Patuakhali and came to Dhaka to visit a relative’s house in East Badda.
Along with his uncle-in-law Mostafizur Rahman and three others, he was going to the house of Hazi Jahiruddin near Bepari Tower of Maddhya Badda
on foot carrying Tk 11,10,000 in broad daylight. They were going there to register a land on commission.
When they reached near the destination at around 5:00 pm, armed muggers numbering 3-4 suddenly appeared there and intercepted them, said Mostafizur Rahman. At one stage, Shahin received a bullet in one of his legs, after which the muggers fled the scene taking the money, Mostafiz added.
Shahin was first taken to a local hospital, then from there shifted to DMCH at around 7:00 pm.
