A gang of robbers looted a large number of mobile phone sets along with other materials from a mobile phone shop in Rabeya Complex in Sherpur upazila of the district on Friday night.
Abdul Hakim, owner of Shahi Mobile Point said he along with his three employees locked the shop on Friday evening.
On Saturday morning, when Abdul opened the shop spotted that the cash box was wide open and all the mobile phones were missing, he said.
At least Tk 5.00 lakh was missing from the cash box, he said.
The approximate cost of the missing mobile phone sets would be Tk 15 lakh, he added.
M Erfan, officer-in-charge of Sherpur Police Station confirmed the incident.
