Muggers shot the caretaker of a house to death and took away his motorcycle at Mirpur in the capital early Friday.
The deceased, identified as Saidur Rahman, 34, son of late Mekabbar, hailed from Nurandi village in Sadar upazila of Jamalpur district. He used to work at a house at Haji Road of Mirpur-2 as caretaker.
Quoting victim’s wife Lutfa Begum, police said Saidur went out of his room by his motorcycle early in the morning.
Locals found Saidur lying in front of the house in an unconscious condition around 5am and took him to Dr Ajmal Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Later, the body that bore marks of bullet injury in the back was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Sub-inspector Afzal Hossain of Mirpur Police Station confirmed the incident, saying muggers snatched the motorbike of Saidur after killing him.
