Metropolitan Sessions Judge SM Mojibur Rahman issued the order on Sunday. The court set Apr 24 to record testimonies in the case. Izahar’s son Mufti Harun and seven other accused were present in the court. Mufti Izahar is absconding. His lawyer Abdus Sattar said the court indicted the accused rejecting their bail petitions. The court on Mar 27 issued arrest warrant against Mufti Izahar in this case after scrapping a High Court bail. On Jan 28, Mufti Izahar secured bail from the High Court for eight weeks. On Oct 7 last year, an explosion ripped through the second floor of a dormitory at the Jamayetul-Ulum-Al Islamia Madrasa, run by Mufti Izahar. He is also the chief of a faction of the Islami Oikkajot. Five students were injured — three of whom died later while under treatment. Izahar’s son Harun was in-charge of the dormitory where the explosion occurred. He tried to pass it off as a case of a laptop exploding accidentally. But police recovered handmade bombs, acid and explosives after raiding the Madrasa. They filed three cases over the explosion – two under Explosives Act and the other for murder. Police on Feb 10 pressed charges against nine people including Mufti Izahar and his son in the case under Explosives Act. — bdnews24.com
