Women's Cricket: MSC scrape past Rupali Bank

Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club earned second successive victory in the 12-team 40-over-a-side Dhaka Premier Division Women’s Cricket League beating Rupali Bank Krira Parishad by 2 wickets at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Pratishthan (BKSP) Ground-3 on Sunday.
Favoured by coin, Rupali Bank batted first and scored 146 for all in 39.3 overs, spurred by third wicket stand of 77 runs in 19.4 overs between Farzana Haque and Lata Mondol.
Farzana scored 61 off 87 balls with six fours while Lata added 40 off 65 balls with four fours.
To set 147 runs to win, Mohammedan SC reached the target for the loss of 8 wickets in 39.4 overs.
Number four Rumana Ahmed, who was adjudged player of the match, scored team highest 57 runs off 92 balls with six fours while Sultana Yesmin (18), Tahin Tahera (not out 17) and skipper Salma Khatun (11) were the other double digit contributors for the side.
In the other match at BKSP Ground 4, Ansar & VDP (250 for 5 in 40 overs) won by 166 runs against Orient Sporting Club (48 for 9 in 40 overs) to taste the first victory in the meet.
Ansar & VDP skipper Shohaly Akther knocked an unbeaten 85 runs off 57 balls with 10 fours and two sixes to be adjudged player of the match.
Meanwhile, a captain’s knock of unbeaten 87 runs off 99 balls by skipper cum opener Sarmin Akter Supta guided Jahurul Islam City Cricket Club (196 for 7 in 40 overs) to taste the first victory in the meet crushing Indira Road Krira Chakra (23 for 10 in 16.4 overs) by 173 runs at Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium.
The player of the match award went to Sarmin Akter.
