Premier Division Women's Cricket League: MSC crush Orient SC by 316 runs

A stunning unconquered third wicket stand of 283 runs by skipper Salma Khatun and opener Eti Mondal with their individual centuries ensured Mohammedan Sporting Club’s flying start in the Dhaka Premier Division Women’s Cricket League as it crushed Orient Sporting Club by a massive 316 runs at Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium on Friday.
In the other 40-over-a-side match on the opening day at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Pratishthan (BKSP) Ground-4 in Savar, Rupali Bank Krira Parishad notched a 140-run victory over Ansar & VDP.
MSC crush Orient SC
Sent in to bat first, MSC scored a formidable 349 for 2 in 40 overs, spurred by the unbeaten third wicket stand of 238 runs in 28.4 overs between Salma Khatun and Eti Mondal.
Salma Khatun, who was adjudged player-of-the-match, hit 150 runs off 86 balls featuring 26 fours while number four Eti Mondal’s century of 124 runs off 122 balls featured 15 fours.
Rubya Haider(21) and Sultana Yesmin (4) were the other scorers for the side. Zerin Tasnim and Subrina Sultana took one wicket each for 41 and 43 runs respectively in 5 and 6 overs.
Chasing a mammoth target of 350 runs, Orient SC scored a meager 33 runs for 9 wickets in 20.1 overs. Number 11 Subrina Sultana was absent.
Unfortunately there was no double digit contributor for the side while number three Dilara Aktar Dola scored team highest 5 runs off 15 balls with one four.
Rumana Ahmed grabbed 3 wickets for 4 runs and Tahin Tahera captured 2 wickets for 9 runs, bowling 5 overs each.
Salma Khatun and Asa Rani Das took 1 wicket each for 2 and 6 runs respectively in 2 and 4 overs.
Rupali Bank Krira Parishad vs Ansar & VDP
Batting first after winning the toss, Rupali Bank Krira Parishad scored a moderate 214 runs for 7 in 40 overs.
Number four Lata Mondol, who was adjudged player-of -the-match, scored team highest 90 runs off 78 balls which featured 15 fours while Shamima Sultana was the other notable contributor for the side scoring 56 runs off 97 balls with six fours.
Shohaly Akther was the only successful wicket taker grabbing 6 for 36 in 8 overs.
In reply, Ansar & VDP dismally finished the innings scoring 74 runs for all in 33.4 overs.
Opener Ayesha Akter (22) and Lucky Khatun (15) were the double digit scorers for their side.
Sathira Jakir grabbed three wickets for 16 runs in 7.4 overs while Sabikun Naher Jasmin captured two wickets for 11 runs in 6 overs.
Rima Akther, Sandamali Kumuduni, Lata Mondol and Jesia Akhter took one wicket each for 4, 6, 12 and 21 runs respectively in 1, 4, 8 and 4 overs.
