‘MRPs to be available before scheduled time’

State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan said the government is committed to providing machine readable passports (MRPs) to expatriates in Germany.
“We are working for the welfare of the expatriates, as they are contributing a lot to the national economy,” he said while handing over MRPs to Bangladeshi nationals in Berlin as the chief guest.
According to a message received here yesterday, the state minister said that expatriates in Germany will get their MRPs before the scheduled time.
Mentioning expatriates as one of the main driving forces of the country’s national economy, he said their remittance will play a vital role in making Bangladesh a developed country.
Meanwhile, a large number passports seeker rushed to Bangladesh High Commission in Berlin and registered their names for getting the MRPs.
During the MRP handing ceremony, Bangladesh Ambassador in Berlin Muhammad Ali Sorcar, additional secretary of home ministry Sheikh Abdul Ahad, private secretary to the state minister Dr M Harun-or-Rashid Biswas, project director of MRP and MRV Brigadier General M Masud Rezwan were present at the function.
