Minister for Husing and Public Works Mosharraf Hossain has said that the members of parliaments can have flat and plot both.
He disclosed this at a general discussion on proposed budget in the parliament on Monday saying that RAJUK will build about 1, 00,000 apartments which can be received on easy terms.
He also proposed that MPs should get apartments instead of plots. But no lawmakers, either from
the treasury or the opposition bench, seemed pleased with the proposal. Many of them were heard shouting “no” to the minister’s proposal.
They were shouting that they only want plots, not flats. This triggered a chaos in the parliament which forced the minister to stop his speech.
Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah, who was presiding over the House at that time, brought the situation under control.
Later, the minister said a new housing project will be launched with 2200 acre land and added that MPs could take both flat and plot.
