Staff Reporter :
A writ petition has been filed with the High Court (HC) challenging the legality of lawmaker and former Home Minister Advocate Sahara Khatun of holding the post of President of the Dhaka Women College Governing Body at Uttara.
Supreme Court lawyer Eunus Ali Akond filed the petition on Monday on behalf of Bahauddin Ahmed, former governing body member of the college.
“The HC recently passed an order saying that no Parliament Member could
be the president of any educational institution. Violating the HC order, the National University (NU) on September 6 appointed Advocate Sahara Khatun MP, (Dhaka-6) the President of the college governing body,” said the petitioner’s lawyer.
A HC bench headed by Justice M Enayetur Rahim may hold the hearing upon the petition today”, said the lawyer.
