A local Awami League leader on Tuesday accused his party’s MP Nizam Uddin Hazari of masterminding the attack on the convoy of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Feni last month.
Terming the attack as pre-planned, Azharul Haque Arzu, member of Feni district unit of Awami League, said that Nizam Hazari played a key role in this respect. He was addressing a press conference at Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka.
Vehicles of different media outlets including DBC, Channel i, Ekattor and Boishakhi TV were targeted selectively by the cadres of Nizam Hazari to take revenge for the news reports against him, Arzu said while reading out a written statement.
He added that the people of the Hindu community were also threatened by Nizam Hazari, who is also the General Secretary of AL district unit.
The convoy of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, heading towards Cox’s Bazar for her visit to Rohingya refugee camps, came under attack at Mohammad Ali Bazar near Feni district town on October 28. At least 45 people were injured and some 30 vehicles damaged in the incident.
