Boy shooting: MP Liton`s bail extended until Jan 17

UNB, Gaibandha :A court here on Tuesday extended the bail of Manjurul Islam Liton, Awami League MP from Gaibandha-1 constituency, until January 17 next in a case filed for shooting a minor boy.Judge Maniruzzaman Shikdar of Sundarganj cognisance court passed the order after MP Liton filed appeared before the court with a petition t seeking extension of his bail. On October 2, minor boy Sourav, 8, son of Sazu Miah of Gopalcharan village, suffered wounds to his both legs with bullets allegedly fired by Manjurul Islam Liton at the village in Sundarganj upazila.Victim’s father Sazu filed an attempted murder case against Liton on the following day. On October 8, another case was filed against him on charge of vandalising and looting a house.Later, on October 14, detectives arrested Liton form Uttara in the capital. The following day, he was hauled up at the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate of Gaibandha when the court sent him to jail rejecting his bail petition.On November 8, a local court granted interim bail to the ruling party lawmaker until the prorogation of 8th parliament session. On November 24, the same court granted interim bail until December 8 to Manjurul Islam Liton when he appeared before the court on the prorogation of the parliament session with a bail petition.
