Bangladesh Open University (BOU) has expelled Tamanna Nusrat Bubly MP permanently and cancelled her all examinations and registration on charge of adopting unfair means in her BA examinations held under the university.
Apart from the expulsion, the BOU authorities have also formed a committee to probe the forgery of Bubly, wife of slain Narsingdi municipal mayor Lokman Hossain. Lokman was killed in a terror attack in November 1, 2011.
The decisions were taken at an emergency meeting, presided over by BOU Vice Chancellor professor Dr MA Mannan. Different regional centers’ deans, director and examination controllers were present in the meeting held on Sunday.
At the meeting, VC Mannan said, ” Bubly herself did not take part in the examination, rather hired eight persons gave proxy examinations for her. But, one of them was caught red-handed on the last day of exam. A media report about her forgery prompted them to take the measures against the MP of the reserve seat.
Earlier, a private television has broadcast that lawmaker Bubly hired eight proxy examinees for sitting for her. The report showed that a total of four semesters and 13 exams in BOU BA course have, so far, been held. But Bubly did not sit for any of the tests.
Later, the television reporters found another woman in the stipulated seat with Bubly’s roll number in the exam hall. The woman also claimed that she was lawmaker Tamanna Nusrat Bubly when journalists wanted to know about her identity.
The mediamen also asked her to show her ID card. But, the woman failed to show and said that she forgot to bring it.
It was learned that Bubly mentioned her educational qualification HSC pass in the affidavit submitted before the 11th national parliamentary election. To raise educational qualification, she got admitted to Bangladesh Open University but she allegedly adopted unfair means to pass BA. Although she stays in Dhaka but eight female students took part in examination for her.
