MP Abul Kashem Master passes away

Abul Kashem Master, a former lawmaker from Chittagong-4 (Sitakunda) constituency, died at a Dhaka hospital on Tuesday afternoon. Abul Kashem Master, a two-time elected Member of Parliament (MP), died of kidney failure at the capital’s Square Hospital around 2.35pm, family sources said.He is survived by his wife, five sons, one daughter and a host of relatives, political colleagues, well-wishers and admirers to mourn his death.Late Kashem’s family sources said he went to Singapore several times for the treatment of his kidney and was staying in the capital for kidney dialysis as his both kidneys were damaged.
“As his condition further deteriorated on Monday, he was admitted to Square Hospital in Dhaka, where he breathed his last”, the sources added. A devoted Awami League (AL) leader, Kashem, was elected MP in 1996 for the first time and again in 2009 when he discharged duties as the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Commerce Ministry.
