Mozammel inspects project work in city’s Suhrawardy Udyan

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque inspected the ongoing construction work of Swadhinata Stambha at Suhrawardy Udyan in the city on Wednesday.
After visiting the project work, he said to the concerned officials and engineers, this place has to be beautified by keeping the historical monuments of the Liberation War. So, proper quality of work has to be ensured.
The third phase of work is underway at a cost of Taka 265.44 crore at the Suhrawardy Udyan. It will feature the historic speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on March 7 and the venue of the surrender of the Pakistan Army on December 16, 1971 and the construction of a sculpture of Indira Mancha, underpass, parking and a wide reservoir.
The project is scheduled to run until 2021.
Among others, Secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Chief Engineer of Public Works Department Md. Ashraful Alam, Project Director Sanwar Hossain along with engineers of the Department of Architecture and senior officials of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs were present.
