Lawyers of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Thursday said that their movement to protect the judiciary would continue till the goal was achieved.
This movement is not to save any person or to keep any political party, this movement is to protect the judiciary, they said.
The SCBA members said this in a demonstration programme held on the Bar premises. The Supreme Court Bar arranged the programme to uphold the image of the judiciary.
The lawyers said the Supreme Court’s movement cannot be stopped, rather it will continue till the goal is achieved.
Bar President Advocate Zainul Abedin presided over the programme, while Bar Secretary Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokan, Vice-President Advocate Umme Kulsum Rekha, Advocate Mirza Al Mahmud and Barrister Ahsanur Rahman were present at the programme, among others.
Advocate Zainul Abedin said their movement is not to save any person or not to save any political party, their movement is to protect the judiciary.
“A political party is trying to divide the lawyers. They are arranging counter programme with some officers of the Attorney General’s office. But their evil purpose will not be successful,” he said.
Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokan said, the leave petition of the Chief Justice was false. The Chief Justice had been detained. The government was trying to send him abroad by force, he added.
Meanwhile, Md Ozi Ullah, Senior Vice President of the Supreme Court Bar, on Thursday at a press conference alleged that the Bar President and the Secretary were trying to use the bar for political purpose.
He also said that the Chief Jusice went on leave on medical grounds. But some were trying to stream the matter in different areas. That would be harmful for the judiciary.
Bar Tresurer Rafiqul Islam Hiru, Assistant Secretary Shafiqul Islam, Executive Member Kumer Debul De, Habibur Rahman and Noor-e-Alam were also present at the press conference.
