Speakers at a human chain here on Monday have stressed for launching social movement against social erosions, fundamentalism, unhealthy culture, drug abuse, gambling, rape and violence against women and human trafficking.
Terming the fundamentalist forces and women repressors as the social enemies, they urged the government to root out all anti-liberation forces through banning of their religion-based politics on this soil and punishing the women repressors.
District unit of Bangladesh Narimukti Kendra (BNK) organised the human chain programme at Satmatha point in the divisional city on Monday afternoon with its district committee member Alo Begum in the chair.
People from all walks in life including the human rights, women and political activists, teachers, students, sociocultural activists, professionals, civil society members and NGO activists took part in the programme.
Convener of district unit of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) Comrade Anwar Hossain Bablu addressed the programme as the chief guest.
District unit member of BSD leader Polash Kanti Nag, President of district unit of Samajtantirk Chhatra Front Ahsanul Arefin Titu, General Secretary of district unit of BNK Nazmun Nahar Lipi addressed the programme. Noted educationist and social worker Abdus Sobhan, valiant freedom fighter Mir Kanchan Ali and Adviser of Satmatha Unnayan Sangstha Abdul Kuddus Mian, also addressed the occasion expressing their solidarity.
The speakers strongly protested spread of unhealthy and bad culture like gambling, drug abuse, pornography, rape, and acid attack, violence against women, sexual harassment and recent violence against minority by the anti-liberation fundamentalist forces.
They called for banning of the anti-liberation and religion-based communal politics to establish permanent peace and stability on this soil and ensure security to the womenfolk for accelerating national development activities without any hindrance.
They demanded for bringing an end to fundamentalism, ill culture and pornography, violence against women, rape, gang rape and murder after rape, acid attack and sexual harassment and said that the womenfolk are facing risks at all places in the society.
