UNB, Dhaka :
BNP senior leader Nazrul Islam Khan on Tuesday dropped a hint that their party will launch another spell of anti-government movement once its overhauling process is over.
He, however, said though government is blocking their all peaceful programmes, they will not choose alternative path what Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal JSD had done in 1975 to go to power.
“The government is obstructing our all programmes and activities, including party overhauling process. What alternative we can adopt when our peaceful action programmes are hampered…some parties like JSD had taken alternative, but we’re not that type of political party and we don’t want to follow that,” Nazrul said.
“We’ll restore democracy through a mass upsurge after awaking people. Our party overhauling activities has started, we’ll complete it soon and mobilise public support… you’ll see BNP’s massive rallies and big programmes,” he added.
Nazrul, a BNP standing committee member, was talking to reporters after placing wreaths along with leaders and activists of Muktijoddha Dal at BNP founder Ziaur Rahman’s grave, marking its founding anniversary.
BNP had earlier launched movement twice-one before the January-5 election for holding the 10th parliamentary polls under a non-party
administration and another early this year for a fresh election, but failed to force the government to concede to their demands. Nazrul came down hard on the government for what he said its repressive acts and undemocratic attitude. “Many of our leaders and activists have been kept in jail in false cases. They’re also implicating now our party men in false cases. The government has made the entire country a jail.”
The BNP policymaker said the government has failed to deliver on all fronts. “They cannot control the soaring prices of daily essentials.
