With the Mashrafe saga gradually dying down it would be of keen interest to see how things pan out during and after the Tri nation tour of Ireland.
Former National opener and cricket analyst Ishtiaque Ahmad talked to BSS on Monday and gave his views what await Bangladesh cricket in the coming months.
It is indeed appreciable that Bangladesh would be stopping over at Sussex for some valuable practice sessions prior to taking on the Kiwis and the Irish on conditions that are quite alien to our boys. Having to contend on seaming conditions and possibly cold and blustery winds as well, it would no doubt be just what the Doctor had ordered for our captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza who with his accurate and little movements just might make it difficult for his opponents.
It would also be an ideal condition for the sensational Mustafizur Rahman to exploit the conditions to his heart’s content as shown during his very little experience in Sussex last year. One could only hope that the left arm speedster is able to pace himself during the IPL and not over exert himself and rather preserve the much needed energy and strength for the Irish tour.
With all the batsmen in reasonably good form it would be equally important for the seniors to carry on their good work and show not only to the juniors in the side and that with contributions from them also especially from the likes of Soumya Sarkar, Sabbir Rahman, Mossadeq Hossain and Mehdi Hasan Miraj, Bangladesh have the makings of a world beater.
With constant and frequent overseas tours one couldn’t have wished for a better opportunity for a team to show its mettle just at a time when not only the nucleus of the side is formed but a whole lot of exciting youngsters are make it big at the international stage.
