All for his dynamic lifelong work with the spirit of law, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, a late senior BNP leader, will be remember with due respect. The veteran lawyer throughout his life had worked for the mass people and for the national interest.
Justice Md. Abdul Matin came up with these remarks while speaking at Barrister Moudud Ahmed’s commemorating meeting held at the Jatiya Press Club on Saturday.
Barrister Moudud Ahmed Smriti Parishad organized the meeting, chaired by Gono Sashthaya Kendro Founder and Trustee Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury.
President of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) ASM Abdur Rab, eminent lawyer Barrister Amir-ul Islam, noted economist Dr. Debapriya Bhattacharya, BNP leaders Zaynal Abedin Faruk and Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna and wife of Barrister Moudud Hasna Jasim Uddin Moudud also spoke, among others, on the occasion.
Justice Abdul Matin said, “Barrister Moudud suffered from various sorrows and pains. He was forcibly ousted from a house where he had lived for 40 years.”
“It was only for political vengeance,” said Justice Matin, quoting the late leader Barrister Moudud.
Gono Sashthaya Kendro Founder and Trustee Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury said, “There is a warning sign of famine has been found in the country.”
“Previously only lower income class people were stood in the queue of TCB trucks. But nowadays, middle income group people are also standing in the queue as inflation is very high in market,” Dr. Zafrullah said.
Also a freedom fighter Dr. Zafrullah said, “There was famine in the country in 1974. Misrules and mismanagement were the main reasons behind that starvation. Today similar signs are found.”
JSD president ASM Abdur Rab said, “We can show our respect to Barrister Moudud Ahmed only by restoring democracy, and ensuring people’s rights to vote and to live in dignity.”
Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna said that Barrister Moudud Ahmed was an outspoken leader and writer.
