A court has ordered trial for BNP leaders Moudud Ahmed and Mirza Abbas and 39 others on charges of vandalism in front of the party’s Naya Paltan office last year. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Tareque Monirul Islam Bhuiyan indicted the accused on Tuesday and scheduled recording of testimonies on Oct 12. Among the accused, BNP Standing Committee Members Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas, Goyeshwar Roy and 24 others were present in court for the framing of charges. They all pleaded not guilty. Moudud and Amanullah Aman pleaded for exemption but their appeal was rejected by the court. Twelve among the 41 accused were absconding. Paltan Police had filed the case accusing 44 people of vandalism following the obstruction of traffic in front of the BNP headquarters on Mar 6 last year.
