MoU signed to raise standard of Higher Edn

The British Council Bangladesh and the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DoSHE) on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a view to raising the standards of Secondary Education in Bangladesh at the office of DoSHE in Shikkha Bhabon.
Director General of DoSHE Professor Fahima Khatun and Director Partnership and Programmes of British Council Robin Davies and Deputy Project Director Mushfiqur Rahman were present during the signing programme.
The officials of British Council Bangladesh said, the British Council is offering professional and skills development trainings for Head Teachers and subject teachers as part of their Connecting Classrooms Programme. These trainings will be provided in collaboration with DoSHE flagship project-Teaching Quality Improvement (TQI).
 “The British Council’s Connecting Classrooms Leadership Programme has 22 modules that support Head Teachers to develop their leadership skills through training and international collaboration. Connecting Classrooms offers a range of professional development learning opportunities for teachers to improve their skills bringing global dimension in curriculum. The British Council ‘s Connecting Classrooms courses on global citizenship will be incorporated into TQI subject trainings for teachers,” they said.
This year 1000 teachers will be trained under this partnership agreement. This agreement covers an initial one-year pilot period of joint activites from April 2014 to April 2015 with a possibility of extension upon the satisfaction of the participants.
