A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Jahangirnagar University (JU) and American Institute of Bangladesh Studies (AIBS) signed on Thursday.
The objective of the MoU is to promote the bilateral higher education and research facilities between the two institutions, a press release said.
The teachers and researchers of Jahangirnagar University would get a big opportunity to conduct their researches on weather, climate change and natural disasters at the different prominent universities in America through the MoU.
JU Treasurer Professor Dr. Abul Khair and President of AIBS also Professor of Monmouth University USA Dr. Gulam M Matbar signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions at a function held at the council room of the administrative building on the campus.
JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Farzana Islam, Pro-VC Professor Dr. Abul Hossain and Director of AIBS (Dhaka Office) Dr. Rumana Tasmin were present at the function among others.
Later Professor Gulam M Matbar invited JU Vice Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam to take part at a seminar entitled ‘Extreme Weather, Disasters, and Indigenous Practices in South Asia’ to be held on September 16 this year organized by AIBS in Dhaka.
Receiving invitation JU VC thanked Professor Gulam M Matbar for signing the MoU between JU and AIBS.
