Access to Information (a2i) Programme of Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), the USA to improve quality of education by using the information and technology.
PMO Director General (administration) and a2i Project Director Kabir Bin Anwar and NYIT Interim President Rahmat Shoureshi signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides at a function at NYIT’s administrative building in New York on May 10, said a Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the UN press release.
Under the MoU, training will be imparted to the teachers of different educational institutions under ministries of Education and Primary and Mass Education using the Teacher Training Programme of the NYIT.
Addressing the function, NYIT Interim President Rahmat Shoureshi said “As per the MoU, our gathered experience will be applied in advancing the information-technology and education in Bangladesh”.
Project Director of a2i Kabir Bin Anwar said, “We signed the MoU as part of the striking agreements with different renowned universities and institutions on exchanging knowledge and experiences to implement the government’s vision of making “Digital Bangladesh”.
Earlier, two documentaries of the institutions were screened at the function.
NYIT acting Provost Dr Lou Reinisch, Teacher-Training Department Chairman Dr Hui-Yin Hsu, Assistant Professor Dr Minaz Fazal, a2i Project Policy Advisor Anir Chowdhury, First Secretary (Press) of Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the UN Md Noor Elahi Mina and Bangladeshi student at NYIT Kazi Tarana were present at the function.
