A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has recently been signed between the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) and the University of Wollongong, Australia at University of Wollongong, Australia for collaborative research, innovation and training.
A four member team led by Prof Dr Mohammmad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Member, UGC visited the University of Wollongong, NSW, Australia to sign the MoU between the two organizations. The MoU was signed by Dr Md Khaled, Secretary, on behalf of UGC and Prof Alex Frino, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Strategy), on behalf of University of Wollongong.
Both sides agreed to collaborate in research, training and exchange of academic and administrative staff and establish twining programs between University of Wollongong and the universities of Bangladesh. The MoU will come into force immediately and will remain valid until May 2022 and shall be eligible for further renewable for successive terms. Prof Clive Schofield, Dean, Faculty of Law, Humanities and the Arts, Siena Morrisey, International Relations Manager, Dr Md. Fakhrul Islam, Joint Secretary, UGC, Jinnat Rehana, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Education, Dr Solaiman, Faculty of Law and Humanities, University of Wollongong were present at the signing ceremony. University of Wollongong will arrange seminars, workshops, guest lectures featuring research and publication expertise to relevant Bangladeshi Higher Education Institutions and UGC on the basis of mutual agreement between Wollongong and UGC. Both sides also agreed to explore funding of Post Graduate Research and PhD programmes of University teachers.
