MoU between DU, Oxfam

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Institute of Disaster Management & Vulnerability Studies (IDMVS) of Dhaka University (DU) and Oxfam in Bangladesh was signed on Wednesday at the Vice-Chancellor’s office of the university for an effective disaster risk reductions in the country. Treasurer of DU Prof Dr Md. Kamal Uddin and Country Director of Oxfam in Bangladesh Snehal V Soneji singed the MoU on behalf of their respective institution.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Bangladesh Open University Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khondker Mokaddem Hossain, IDMVS Director Prof Dr Mahbuba Nasreen, Acting Registrar Syed Rezaur Rahman, Oxfam DG Reaz Ahmed, Humanitarian Program Manager Murshida Akhter were present, among others, on this occasion.
According to the MoU, Oxfam will extend technical and financial supports to IDMVS for developing E-platform and portal administration to conduct on-line courses and curriculums. They will also promote DU graduate students to work in the field of humanitarian actions. IDMVS and Oxfam will jointly conduct field level empirical research to gather innovative information and share knowledge on disaster management. They will work together to develop and publish books, journals and study modules in this regard. Oxfam will provide research fellowships and internships for the students of IDMVS.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique thanked the Oxfam authorities for signing the MoU. He hoped that this initiative would play an effective role to create awareness among the people on disaster management.
