A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Dhaka University (DU) and Climate Parliament, UK was signed on Sunday at the Vice-Chancellor’s office for the development of renewable energy sector and facing climate issues in Bangladesh. Treasurer of DU Prof Dr Md. Kamal Uddin and South Asia Regional Director of Climate Parliament Mukul Sharma singed the MoU on behalf of their respective institution.
Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Director of the Institute of Energy (IE) Prof Dr Saiful Huque, Project Coordinator of the IE Dr SM Nasif Shams, Convener of Climate Parliament, Bangladesh Nahim Razzaq MP, Advisor Tanvir Shakil Joy and Project Coordinator Sumedha Basu were present, among others, on the occasion.
According to the MoU, Dhaka University and Climate Parliament, UK will work together to implement capacity development project entitled ‘Strengthening Climate-issues and Access to Renewable Energy.’ Climate Parliament will organize workshops, meetings and roundtable discussions on renewable energy and strengthen capacity building activities in this regard.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique thanked the Climate Parliament authorities for signing the MoU. He hoped that this initiative would play an effective role to promote renewable energy to combat climate change in Bangladesh.
