A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Dhaka University (DU) and Third Institute of Oceanography (TIO) of State Oceanic Administration (SOA), China was signed on Sunday.
DU Treasurer Professor Dr M Kamal Uddin and Director General of TIO Prof Yu Xingguang signed this MoU on behalf of their respective institution at the university Vice-Chancellor’s Office.
Chinese Vice-Minister Zhang Hongsheng, DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmad and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain, among others, were present on this occasion.
According to the MoU, DU and TIO will jointly conduct research on various environmental issues including oceanography and marine science.
The two academic institutions will also organize seminars, conferences and academic meetings. Besides, they will conduct joint Masters and PhD programs.
