MoU between DU and British Council signed

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Dhaka (DU) and the British Council was signed on Tuesday at the VC’s office to introduce ‘Citizenship Education and Community Engagement Program’ at the university.
DU Vice-Chancellor Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique and Chief Operating Officer of the British Council Adrian Greer signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institution.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) of DU Prof. Dr. Nasreen Ahmad, Treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Farid Uddin Ahmed, Regional Director (South Asia) of British Council Stephan Roman, Country Director, Bangladesh Barbara Wickham and Deputy Director Matt Pusey were present, among others, on this occasion.
Under this MoU, Dhaka University and British Council will work together to develop leadership skills among university students.
The British Council will organize training of facilitators (TOFs) and provide all necessary technical and financial support for it. The University of Dhaka will identify and recommend faculty members in this regard.
The trained faculty members will act as facilitators and teach the Citizenship Course at the under graduate level. They will also train the students as per the modules and action plan.
The two institutions will further offer the same course as part of the academic curriculum of the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Arts of DU in the following semesters.
Arefin Siddique thanked the British Council authorities for signing the MoU on such an effective program and hoped that the students of the university as well as all of citizen in the country would be highly benefited from this initiative.
