The 38th National Film Awards-2014 giving ceremony is scheduled to be held today at 4:00pm at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city’s Sher-e-Banglanagar. Popular actress, model and dance artiste Sadia Islam Mou and her troupe will perform at today’s award giving ceremony for the first time.
In the programme, Mou along with 40 dancers from her institution Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts will perform in cultural function of the event today. Farhana Chowdhury Baby, Abdur Rashid Swapan and Farhana Khan Tanna will also perform on the occasion.
For the first time, Mou and her troupe are going to perform in this national programme. Mou informed that they will present a fusion dance and patriotic song based dance while performing in the show. With the dance a song which lyrics were written by Director General of Bangladesh Television Harun-ur-Rashid will be presented. Shawkat Ali Emon composed its music which was jointly rendered by Sabbir, Pulack, Nawrin and Konal.
While talking about the performance in the programme Mou told this correspondent, “Generally it is said that if BTV calls us we do not agree to go there. It is a wrong concept. If the BTV invites us properly, we will obviously respond. DG of BTV Harun Bhai cordially invited us. He is coordinating everything of this gala event this year.”
It may be mentioned that from 1976 National Film Awards is being given every year except in 1981. In 1998, only the film Hothat Brishti got the award in two categories.
Harun-ur-Rashid is the chairman of this year’s jury board. Twenty-nine awards will be given. Syed Hasan Imam and Rani Sarkar will get the Lifetime Achievement Award.
